Peace Child International (PCI), a youth-led development and educational charity with consultative status at the United Nations, seeks a full-time media/fund raising person to join its team of international interns for a period of up to 12 months, starting October 2009.
You will be working alongside the other staff to develop an effective communications and media profile and manage our online social networking platforms. You will lead a project to research and measure the impact of our network on the ground and use the evidences to build on Peace Child’s profile and advocate for youth-led development. In addition you will be assisting on fundraising and organising events. We are working towards the 5th World Youth Congress in Istanbul in August 2009. We are also producing a musical event in Ely Cathedral in January 2010 and we want to ensure we maximise our profile.
This position is a residential internship located in Hertfordshire, UK. Communal accommodation, food, domestic travel expenses and a small weekly stipend are provided. You’ll have enough to live on, but your real gains will be in work experience, contacts and personal development.

Qualifications: Good first degree in any subject, with an academic background or strong interest in writing, international affairs and environmental issues. A demonstrated ability to write clearly is important. Experience living abroad and working with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds would also be helpful.
Required skills and qualifications:
Must be English Native Speaker – bilingual is a plus
Excellent writing skills
Good communication and marketing skills
Some experience of fundraising
Strong ability to research, and think creatively and out of the box
Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
Ability to work in multicultural environment
Demonstrated interest in global/environmental issues
International work or volunteer experience abroad is an asset
Strong Computer and internet skills (Microsoft Office, Internet)
